Nail Varnish Colour Wheel

After my beautiful new organisation system, I wanted something to show off the actual colours of my many nail varnishes. Pots never show the real shades as they can often be much darker or lighter on the nails when painted and died.

I think that the wheel system is so pretty as you can look at all the colours at once. The ones photographed are Ciate, but I also have done the rest of my collection.

There are two main ways to show the colour names:

  1. How I have done it, where I cut out a circle of paper, write the names and then stick it on the wheel. I like this better as it is all there in one place and easy to see in an instant.
  2. Number each nail section and then write the list on a separate piece of paper. This may give a prettier look to the wheel as it doesn’t have scruffy handwriting all over it but it means that you have to keep a piece of paper separate.

img_0121The colour wheels I bought was from Sally’s supply store but you can find them much cheaper online. To be honest, as it is really only a tool that you would use personally unless you are a professional so there is no need to spend big on this.

These ones were an 18 wheel display but come in different sizes if you need bigger or smaller.

Other points to note about this is that for the most part I only used one coat of varnish so I can see how opaque each shade is. For the few that I did two coats I made a small dot on the side to show it had two coats so I can remember what each looked like and how it applied.

Finally, it is just me but I love to put everything in rainbow order. The first wheel I just had creme polishes and the second I mixed the creme with the glitter and shimmer shades.

So that was my little project that I did today, I will sort out the rest of the shades later but I just wanted to get the mass of Ciate shades sorted as those are the ones that I don’t know which are which.

Chanel ‘La Rouge’ Autumn smoke

Using the new La Rouge collection from Chanel and I created a great earth-toned look for Autumn.

Main products used are the eyeshadow quad and the ‘Eros’ eyeliner. First impressions video is on my channel and photos of the collection can be found on the blog

How I did my makeup in high school

This is the makeup that I would wear pretty much everyday in high school. The blue eyeshadow may be replaced by a nice purple or pink but the principle is still the same.

Tomorrow I will have my everyday makeup routine so you can see that I have improved over the years!

5 minute fresh tomato and ham pasta

The dinner I make when I cannot be arsed to cook but want something delicious. Very few ingredients and will take less time than the pasta to cook.

Per person:
100g of pasta
2 tomatoes
2 slices of ham
Pepper
Salt
2tbsp of basil
2tbsp of oil

Chop the cooked ham into small pieces. You could also use bacon as well.Extra virgin is not really used for cooking in Italy but mainly as a dressing or a dip because it is so expensive. The flavour is lost through cooking so it is seen as wasteful.

Then lightly heat up with some olive oil. Extra virgin is not really used for cooking in Italy but mainly as a dressing or a dip because it is so expensive. The flavour is lost through cooking so it is seen as wasteful.
However with this dish the oil is the main player and forms the main base of the sauce so the better quality oil you get the better the sauce will taste.
Chop the tomatoes into quarters and add everything in; the seeds will form the base of the sauce.
Add in the basil, if using fresh add in around 1 tbsp also add in the pepper.
Don’t use any salt because the ham will be salty plus the pasta water and you don’t want to over salt the sauce.
Once the pasta is around 1 minutes off being done add into the sauce to mix and marry the sauce and pasta together. Having the last bit of cooking done in the sauce will help the sauce and pasta mix together.
Just before you are to serve add a bit of the pasta water. The starch that has come out of the pasta will make the sauce really creamy.
Dish up and serve with some more pepper and even some Parmesan.
